EMPOWERING AND EQUIPPING TODAY FOR A BETTER TOMORROW
THIS SOLUTION IS NOT ONLY ECONOMICALLY FEASIBLE BUT ALSO PREVENTS MONTHLY
ABSENTEEISM.  IT HAS A GUARANTEED COST SAVINGS AND IS EMPOWERING TO YOUR STUDENTS.
One of the powerful aspects of this project is the empowerment that comes with the breaking of silence and shame. This is accomplished through non-threatening dialogue and small group opportunity.    Students work in small groups led by a trainer/instructor. These small groups encourage dialogue - dialogue promotes desensitization and increases the comfort level for further conversation.  Students receive menstrual supply packets containing washable, reusable supplies and receive training in making their own as well as basic hygiene instruction.
Project Objectives:
  • To understand the natural process of menstruation as a normal part of life;
  • To encourage dialogue regarding this natural process and the personal care it requires;
  • To provide every student with the supplies necessary for such proper care.
Project Goals:
  • Students and faculty will adapt to a new understanding of the natural process of menstruation without shame;  dialogue will become accepted and comfortable; safe places and conversation will be established;
  • A long-term solution is established that economically addresses the needs for the monthly cycle as well as equips  and empowers the students AND protects the environment from thousands of used disposable sanitary products.
The Successful Project:
  • Visible – hiding and shame are broken – lies are dispelled and truth is established;
  • Inclusive – all students participate – no economic or social class is excluded;
  • Sustainable – change in thought brings a change in behavior; acceptable norms are put into place and a new cycle  of self care and economic empowerment begins.
  • Empowering – each kits prevents at least 180 days of absences due to the lack of proper supplies over a 3-year period of use.
