What about the briefs?

If  you are sewing packets for distribution by It's Our Mission: Period! you do not need to worry about supplying the briefs. Once we receive completed sewn items, we then pack the briefs into the packets for distribution.

What's the big deal about underwear?  Well, to many it is a big deal.  Cultures differ greatly in what is considered acceptable.  Just reflect on what you see in the undergarment section of your local department stores -- what might have been deemed unthinkable years ago by our standards is now the norm for another generation.

To introduce our standards or opinions of what is acceptable into another culture is a delicate matter. Our goal is not to introduce our culture and standards -- but rather to offer a solution to a common challenge for women in other nations. We discuss what we propose to supply for briefs with the leadership of each school/or project. We have found that offering the same brief in all packets is a good practice.  It avoids competition, jealousy and other issues that could arise from the recipients.

The briefs we supply cost around $275 per 400 pair of briefs.  We supply 3 briefs per packet: one to wear, one to be washed and drying, and a back-up for 'those days' we've all had.

We currently have a supplier that we are purchasing from but if you know of anyone that can assist us in the acquisition of the briefs through a hospital supply company, etc, and would be willing to support this great project, please pass the information on to them - and to us.
