Frequently Asked Questions

How do I get Involved?
Join Our Work Bees!

Sewing bees/work days are going on in many locations.  Locations and contact information can be found on our Activities Calendar Page by clicking here.  They are a ‘come and go’ gathering so you can come and stay as long as you'd like.

WHAT HAPPENS AT A WORK BEE --
IS IT MORE THAN SEWING?
  This project has numerous aspects:
  • Cutting: cutting fabric into squares; cutting the patterned shield after it’s sewn together;
  • Pinning: pinning the grouped fabric together for tracing and sewing;
  • Tracing: tracing the pattern onto       the fabric;
  • Grouping: taking the different pieces of cut fabric and grouping them together for the next step;
  • Sewing: beginners can handle the simple straight stitching or those with experience will work on the other sewing details;
  • Do I bring my machine? Yes!  That would be great -- we need folks to bring machines, rotary blades, cutting mats, scissors, whatever will assist you – bring it!
  • Food & Fellowship: Very often, there is  food available at a work bee - be sure and check the details on the Activities Calendar or check with the contact person listed.

Are you taking donations?

Yes, we are accepting financial and fabric donations: If you are interested in making a fabric donation, please contact us and we can discuss what you have and make arrangements.

Financial contributions go directly to the project costs of producing the sewn menstrual packets and transporting them to Africa and other Third World Nations. We are a 501c3 nonprofit organization so your contributions are tax deductible.

Once the cloths/pads/liners are completed and turned over to us for distribution, another phase of work begins: hours and hours of organizing and packing packets for individual schools; cartons and tubs being purchased for transport; transport fees, duty and customs charges; in-country logistics and transport to the schools receiving the products; in-country costs for the curriculum development; buckets, soap and supplies for the training and ongoing care of the cloths; fabric & notions for training.

Donations can be mailed to our address below or processed online on the Givings/
Support page.

But I already belong to a sewing group ...

Wonderful!  If you belong to a sewing group and would like to work on this as a project with your group, that would be great!  We would love to have you come to the monthly sewing bees -- But if that isn't possible, you can work with your group toward whatever goal you set and contribute the finished work to It's Our Mission: Period! for distribution.

Can we make pads/packets for our own missionaries/mission trips?

It's a big world out there with lots of women who need these items, so yes -- pads/packets can be made by you or your group for your own missionaries/mission trips, etc. **  We sincerely want missionaries all over the world to be able to introduce and use this on their mission fields.  We didn't create the menstrual cloth concept -- but our project has been designed and creatively developed into an easy-to-understand method that can equip anyone or any group to begin their mission to free women from monthly shame and despair.

Our procedure is to come to your group and present the project, answer questions and help get you on your way toward your goal.  When we come to your group, Donna will need about one hour to speak on the project and the rest of the time is hands-on and answering questions. What has taken us months of development and working out details, can be given out in a simple gathering - saving lots of time and effort in the long run for your project.

Everything you need for working on this project is in THE TOOL KIT:
The Tool Template: Your All-Purpose Project Solution;
ALL PATTERNS AND INSTRUCTIONS NECESSARY FOR THE PROJECT, including:

8x8 Block tri-fold liner;
The Mary Bag/carry-wet bag;
The Basic Shield pattern.

To order THE TOOL KIT

While at your event, we take a free-will offering -- 100% of which goes back into the project costs of transport and supplies for  Third World distribution of packets.
    So what's next?
Please contact us so we can discuss your particular situation.

We will schedule a time to come to your group/church/organization and share the vision of how you can have a global impact through your project.   It will also provide an opportunity to help with any sewing details and questions as you get started.

**If you determine to use our design/patterns/system to distribute to others than It's Our Mission:Period!  we are requesting that you provide some simple facts (click here.) You'll be surprised as you look at the Global Impact Page the lives you've touched -- simply by doing what you love to do!

CHECK OUT THE GLOBAL
IMPACT PAGE TO SEE THE
AREAS WE ARE  ASSISTING.
**Should you or your mission determine to distribute pads/packets, the project and its design/pattern/system concept
belongs exclusively to It's Our Mission: Period.
